Manage published links to Office

Links that you publish to Office will be available to users through Office applications.

To manage published links to Office, you must first access the Links Published to Office Applications page:

  1. Open the administration page for the Shared Services Provider (SSP).

    To open the administration page for the SSP, do the following:

    1. On the top navigation bar, click Application Management.

    2. On the Application Management page, in the Office SharePoint Server Shared Services section, click Create or configure this farm’s shared services.

    3. On the Manage this Farm’s Shared Services page, click the SSP that you want to open.

  2. On the Shared Services Administration Home page, in the User Profiles and My Sites section, click Published links to Office client applications.

What do you want to do?

  • Publish a link to Office

  • Edit a published link to Office

  • Delete a link published to Office

  1. On the Published links to Office client applications page, click New.

  2. On the Published links to Office client applications: New Item page, in the URL section, in the Type the Web address box, type the URL for the Web address that you want to publish to Office.

    You can test the URL by clicking the Click here to test link.

  3. In the Type the description box, type a description for the link. This is how the link will appear to users.

  4. In the Type section, select a type for the URL from the menu.

  5. In the Target Audiences section, in the box, you can type audience names to publish the link to, separated by semicolons. Alternatively, you can specify audiences by clicking Browse.

  6. After selecting any audiences that you want to target, click OK.

  • On the Published links to Office client applications page, in the list of links, select Edit Item from the menu of the link that you want to edit.

    You can find information on the settings for the link in the Publish a link to Office section.

  1. On the Published links to Office client applications page, in the list of links, select Delete Item from the menu of the link that you want to delete.

  2. In the message box asking if you want to delete the link, click OK.
