Before you perform this procedure, confirm that:

  • You have read the topic Manage import connections.

  • Your system is running either the Standard or Enterprise version of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007.

  • The application for the entity that you want to import has been registered in the Business Data Catalog, and the entity that you want to import is included in the application definition. For more information about application definitions, see Register business applications in the Business Data Catalog.

  • The user profile property that you want to map to the imported entity has been added to the user profile.

Important

Administrators must have access to the Shared Services Provider (SSP) administration site, and must have the Manage user profiles permission enabled to complete this procedure.

Imported entities are mapped to properties in the user profile, so that the values for the entity appear in the user profile for each user.
