After you have entered the position information for your organization in Microsoft Dynamics AX, you can create a position hierarchy in Microsoft Visio. A position hierarchy is a visual representation of how positions relate to each other within your organization. You can use Microsoft Excel to export position information from Microsoft Dynamics AX and then you can use the Microsoft Visio Organization Chart Wizard to import the position information from Excel to an organization chart. To do this, complete the following steps:

  1. Click Human resources > Common > Organization > Positions > Positions.

  2. On the Action Pane, click Export to Microsoft Excel to export the Positions list to a Excel worksheet.

  3. Save the Excel workbook to a location that you can access again.

  4. Open Microsoft Visio.

  5. Click File > New.

  6. Select the Organization Chart Wizard template, and then click Create.

  7. On the Organization Chart Wizard page, select the following options for the fields that are listed in the following table.

  8. Go to the location where you saved the Excel workbook in step 3, and then click Next.

  9. Select the columns in the Excel workbook that correspond to the fields in the Organization Chart Wizard. For the Reports to column, select Reports to position as the corresponding field.

  10. Complete the remaining steps in the Organization Chart Wizard, and then click Finish.
