This article describes how to plan for availability in an Enterprise Project Management (EPM)/ Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 extranet environment. For an overview of this chapter about how to plan for EPM extranets, see Plan an EPM/Office SharePoint Server 2007 extranet environment.

Plan for availability

The extranet topologies described in this article are intended to show the following:

  • Where a server farm is located in an overall network

  • Where each server role is located in an extranet environment

This article is not intended to help you plan which server roles that you need to deploy or how many servers for each role that you need to deploy to achieve redundancy. After you determine how many server farms are required for your environment, use the following article to plan the topology for each server farm: Plan for availability (Office SharePoint Server).
