An addition to a fixed asset is maintenance to or an add-on item for a fixed asset. An addition is considered part of a fixed asset, but is not a separate asset. For example, an extra battery for a laptop is an addition to the laptop fixed asset. Typically, an addition is maintenance or an improvement and is related to a write-up adjustment.

  1. Click Fixed assets > Common > Fixed assets > Fixed assets.

  2. Select the fixed asset to create the addition for.

  3. Click Fixed asset additions.

  4. Press CTRL+N to create an addition.

  5. On the Overview tab, keep the default addition number and type a name for the addition, such as Laptop Battery.

  6. Enter additional details, such as the acquisition date, unit cost, and quantity.

  7. On the General tab, enter values for other fields as appropriate.

    Note

If the addition increases the service life of the fixed asset, select the Increases service life check box, and then modify the Service life field in the Value models form.

  8. Press CTRL+S to save the addition.

  9. To create another addition for the selected fixed asset, repeat steps 4 through 8.
