Task that uses this form

Set up budget allocation terms

Example

You want to set up a budget allocation term for a travel budget. The chart of accounts for your organization has an account structure that includes the following financial dimensions: Main account, Cost center, and Department. When you create the budget allocation term, you enter an identifier and description for the travel budget allocation term, and then add the following lines.

Percent

Cost center

Department

25.00

OU_456

000017

25.00

OU_456

000018

25.00

OU_777

000018

The source account in the budget account entry or the budget plan line for the travel budget allocation is 600150- -, and it contains an amount of 10,000. When you allocate by using the budget allocation term, additional lines are added to the budget register entry or budget plan. The source line and the additional lines contain the following dimension values and amounts.

Dimension values

Amount

600150- -

2,500

600150-OU_456-000017

2,500

600150-OU_456-000018

2,500

600150-OU_777-000018

2,500

Account 600150- - in the source line still contains 2,500 because the total percentage of the budget allocation term is only 75 percent.

When you allocate an amount in a budget plan line, you must specify a source budget plan scenario and a destination budget plan scenario. If the source and destination scenarios are different, the four lines are created in the destination scenario. If the source and destination scenario are the same, the original line is deleted. For more information, see “Allocations” in About budget planning configuration and setup.
