Document content types are used to describe the contents of unattached documents. For example purchase orders, invoices, or expense reports. The content types that you create are available in the Unattached documents form and the New document file form. When an unattached document is created, one of these content types is assigned to it. Workflow uses the content type to route the document to the appropriate user or work-item queue.

Create a document content type

  1. Click Organization administration > Setup > Document management > Document content types.

  2. In the Document content types form, enter a name for the content type.

  3. Enter a description for the content type. This description is visible only in the Document content types form.
