Create or modify a contact record

A contact is the person that you interact with in relation to prospect, lead, opportunity, customer, and vendor records.

Create a contact record

  1. Click Sales on the top link bar, and then click Contacts on the Quick Launch.

  2. On the Action Pane, on the Contact tab, in the New group, click Contact.

  3. Select the record for which this contact will be a contact and enter the contact’s name and title.

  4. By default, the primary address records for the contact are taken from the party that this contact is the contact for. However, you can add more address records. On the Addresses FastTab, click New to add one or more address records to the contact record.

  5. By default, the primary contact information records for the contact are taken from the party that this contact is the contact for. However, you can add more contact information records. On the Contact information FastTab, click New to add one or more contact information records to the contact record.

  6. After you make your changes, click Save and close.

Modify a contact record

  1. Click Sales on the top link bar, and then click Contacts on the Quick Launch.

  2. Select the contact that you want to work with, and on the Action Pane, on the Contact tab, in the Maintain group, click Edit.

  3. To update address records that are assigned to the selected contact record, on the Addresses FastTab, click Edit. After you change the address information, click Save and close.

    Note

    Only address records that are owned by the contact can be updated on this page. If an address record is taken from the party record that the contact is a contact for, the record cannot be changed.

  4. To update contact information records that are assigned to the selected contact record, on the Contact information FastTab, click Edit. After you change the contact information, click Save and close.

    Note

    Only contact information records that are owned by the contact can be updated on this page. If a contact information record is taken from the party record for which the contact is a contact for, the record cannot be changed.

  5. Make any other necessary changes to the contact record and then click Save and close.
