Event Review: Microsoft Operations Manager 2005 Overview (Session TNT1-112)

In this session, we will take a look at the next version of Microsoft’s Operations Management product, MOM 2005, which enables increased levels of service availability for Windows Server System. Learn how IT operations staff can use MOM 2005 to stay aware of issues, respond to these issues quickly and accurately, and demonstrate accountability to stakeholders, allowing them to more reliably deliver IT services to support the business at all times. This session is an in-depth look at the MOM features from an IT pro’s perspective. We will look at the MOM architecture, focusing on the components that make up the product. We will examine the monitoring components of MOM, and look at how to use the various interfaces to create rules and monitor the environment. We will look at management packs and tasks, to see how MOM 2005 adds a reactive capability to monitoring systems. Finally, we will see the reports MOM produces and the information those reports provide. By directly monitoring the event, health, and performance information of Windows Server System, MOM 2005 helps highlight relevant and important information that is captured, evaluated, and presented to help prevent issues from going unseen. There is also an optional section on upgrading to MOM 2004 from various configurations and information on upgrade orders and considerations.
