Internet Explorer 10 Deployment Guide

Introduction

The Internet Explorer 10 Deployment Guide provides key points about the options and processes involved in planning for, deploying, and customizing Internet Explorer 10 for use on your users’ computers. This guide also describes using the Internet Explorer Administration Kit 10 (IEAK 10) to create an installer package for deployment.

New features and tools for Internet Explorer 10

Internet Explorer 10 provides new and updated features specifically for IT Professionals, including:

  • Browser launch settings. Enables users and administrators to specify how webpages appear from clicked links.

  • Updated web standards. Updated support for HTML5, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), the Document Object Model, the Indexed Database API, and Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG, filters).

  • Enhanced Protected Mode. Extends Protected Mode to further restrict the ability of an attacker to access sensitive or personal information in personal and corporate environments.

Internet Explorer 10 also includes updated tools used to deploy, manage, and support the browsers in an enterprise, including:

  • Internet Explorer Administration Kit (IEAK). IT pros can use the IEAK 10 to create custom, branded versions of Internet Explorer 10. For more information and to download the IEAK 10, see Internet Explorer Administration Kit (IEAK) Information and Downloads.

  • Group Policy. Enables you to use the related settings to manage and control your web browser configuration. For more information about the available Group Policy settings, see Group Policy.

  • Unattend Settings. Enables IT pros to update the Unattend.xml file during Windows 8 installations, to customize the home page, favorites, search providers, feeds, Accelerators, Web Slices, and settings for top result searches.
