Best Practices for Securing Your Network

It is important to set up and follow best practice policies to help secure your Windows SBS network. Best practices include not using the server as a workstation, running security tools, and regularly updating software.

  • You can view best practices on the To Do List in Server Management. For more information, see Security Best Practices.
  • If the server is used as a workstation, the probability of attacks increases. For more information, see Not using your server as a workstation.
  • It is recommended that you run the Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer (MBSA) tool to help keep your network secure. For more information, see Running security tools.
  • It is also recommended that you promptly install software updates to help keep your network secure. For more information, see Updating your software.
