RMS Exclusion

Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2

Exclusion prevents specific principals from acquiring new licenses from a particular RMS cluster. Unlike revocation, however, exclusion does not invalidate the principals. Any existing licenses that are associated with excluded principals are still valid; only new licensing requests are denied.

Each RMS cluster maintains its own exclusion policies, and these policies are not propagated throughout the system. From the RMS Administration Web site, administrators set exclusion policies for each RMS cluster.

Administrators can exclude principals based lockbox version, Windows version, rights account certificate, or RMS-enabled application.
