Checklist: Control Exposure to Critical Enterprise Services Applications

Applies To: Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012

Enterprise Services applications typically offer critical middle-tier functionality. If your Enterprise Services applications reside on the same computer as the processes that call these applications, you can add an additional layer of security—beyond the security that role-based access controls offer—by disabling COM+ Network Access. Disabling COM+ Network Access prevents network access to all Enterprise Services applications.

Task Reference

Review the features and functions of the COM+ Network Access role service.
