Test a Modem

Applies To: Windows Server 2008

You can use this procedure to test a modem that is installed on your computer.

This procedure sends standard AT commands to your modem, and then displays the responses to indicate features supported by your modems.

Any user account can be used to complete this procedure.

To test your modem

  1. In Control Panel, click Hardware and Sound, and then click Phone and Modem Options.

  2. On the Modems tab, click the modem that you want to test.

  3. Click Properties, click Diagnostics, and then click Query Modem.

Additional considerations

  • The commands for which your modem returns Command not supported are for features that the modem manufacturer has chosen not to support in this model. For the specific commands to which your modem can respond, see your modem's documentation.
