Event ID 2184 — Message Queuing Connectivity

Message Queuing relies on network connectivity for much of its functionality. If network connectivity is lost or compromised, messages may not be sent or delivered.

Message: Message Queuing could not resolve the name '%1' to an IP address. This event is logged at most once per %2 seconds. To change this setting, set \HKLM\Software\Microsoft\MSMQ\Parameters\Event2184 registry value to desired time in seconds.

Resolve

Confirm DNS settings

Network-name-to-IP-address resolution has failed. 

Confirm that the computer name that is specified in the event is a valid computer name on the network. If it is a valid computer name, confirm the recipient computer's Domain Name System (DNS) settings, and then use the ping command to contact the recipient computer by network name to confirm name resolution functionality.

Verify

Confirm that the MSMQ Service is installed and running.

To perform this procedure, you must have membership in Administrators, or you must have been delegated the appropriate authority.

To confirm that the MSMQ Service is installed and running:

  1. Open the Services snap-in. To open Services, click Start. In the search box, type services.msc, and then press ENTER.
  2. Locate the Message Queuing service, and then confirm that the value in the Status column is Started.

Verify that the computer has connectivity to the network.
