Import some or all of the registry

Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2

To import some or all of the registry

  1. Open Registry Editor.

  2. On the File menu, click Import Registry File.

  3. Find the file you want to import, click the file to select it, then click Open.

Caution

  • Incorrectly editing the registry may severely damage your system. Before making changes to the registry, you should back up any valued data on your computer.

Note

  • In Windows Explorer, double-clicking a file with the .reg extension imports the file into the computer's registry.
