Use HyperTerminal with Minitel

Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2

To use HyperTerminal with Minitel

  1. Open HyperTerminal.

  2. Open a saved connection file or create a new connection.

  3. On the File menu, click Properties, and then click the Settings tab.

  4. In the Emulation list, click Minitel, and then click OK.

  5. On the View menu, click Font.

  6. In the Font list, click Arial Alternative Symbol then click OK.

Notes

  • Performing this task does not require you to have administrative credentials. Therefore, as a security best practice, consider performing this task as a user without administrative credentials.

  • To open HyperTerminal, click Start, point to All programs, point to Accessories, point to Communications, and then click HyperTerminal.

  • HyperTerminal is not installed by default. For information on how to install HyperTerminal, see Related Topics.

  • Arial Alternative is the only font that contains the graphic characters you need for the Minitel service. If this font is not an available option, add the Arial Alternative Symbol and Arial Alternative Regular fonts to your computer.

  • The function keys used for Minitel emulation are as follows:

  • When you emulate a Minitel terminal, the Port Settings default values change to:

    • Data bits: 7

    • Parity: Even

    • Stop bits: 1
