Configure Replication Frequency Within a Site

Applies To: Windows Server 2008

The replication frequency schedule ensures that the Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services (AD LDS) instances within a site periodically check with one another to determine if any changes have occurred. Regardless of the replication frequency that is specified, AD LDS instances continue to replicate changes through update notifications.

Membership in Administrators, or equivalent, is the minimum required to complete this procedure. Review details about using the appropriate accounts and group memberships at Local and Domain Default Groups (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=83477).

To configure replication frequency within a site

  1. Open the Active Directory Service Interfaces (ADSI) Edit and then connect and bind to the configuration directory partition of the AD LDS instance for which you want to configure the replication schedule. For more information, see Manage an AD LDS Instance Using ADSI Edit.

  2. In the console tree, double-click the connection, double-click the configuration directory partition, double-click the sites container (CN=Sites), and then click the site container in which the instance resides.

  3. In the details pane, right-click CN=NTDS Site Settings, and then click Schedule.

  4. In Schedule, select the block of time that you want to schedule, and then click None, Once per Hour, Twice per Hour, or Four Times per Hour as the replication frequency.

  5. When you are finished updating the schedule, click OK.
