Monitoring the status of updates

Updated: April 8, 2010

Applies To: Unified Access Gateway

To minimize the risk of the Forefront UAG server being compromised, it is important that the latest security updates and hotfixes are installed on your Forefront UAG servers. On a weekly basis, you should check that all critical updates and hotfixes have been installed on your Forefront UAG servers. It is recommended that you test security updates in a test environment before you deploy them in your production environment.

The following are examples of the types of updates whose availability you should check on a weekly basis:

  • Hotfixes

  • Service packs

  • Security updates

  • Antivirus updates

Note

These should be applied as soon as possible depending on company policy.

Updates should be applied uniformly across servers and workstations in the organization.

Note

When applying updates, you may be required to reboot the Forefront UAG server. The Forefront UAG server should be taken offline if a reboot is required.
