Known Issues

Issue Workaround

Upgrading to DPM 2010 from a version older than DPM 2010 Release Candidate is not supported. If you upgrade to DPM 2010 from a version older than DPM 2010 Release Candidate, the text in the About System Center Data Protection Manager dialog box is not localized.

DPM 2010 cannot be installed on a computer that is running the Turkish version of Windows Server.

Install DPM 2010 on an English version of Windows Server.

Hinweis

DPM 2010 can protect data sources on computers running the Turkish locale.

A client license allows you to provide file-level protection for a single client computer running Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7.

This does not include support for system state protection.

Protecting a DPM server with another DPM server requires a single enterprise license. If a computer is protected by both a primary DPM server and a secondary DPM server, a separate license is not required for the secondary DPM server.

DPM 2010 does not provide system protection for Windows Server 2003.

To protect computers that are running Windows Server 2003, you can use the DPM System Recovery Tool. To download this tool, see Download the System Recovery Tool (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=189119).

The system state of computers running Windows XP is deprecated in DPM 2010 and is no longer available.

After protecting your SharePoint farm, your backups will be successful but you cannot do item-level recovery.

Item-level recovery is not available until the first successful catalog is complete for the corresponding content database. You can either wait for the catalog to happen automatically or you can run it manually. For more information, see DPM Cataloging to Recover SharePoint Items.

Auto-protection of SQL Server databases is disabled after switching protection from the primary to the secondary DPM server.

After switching protection, run the Modify Protection Group Wizard for all protection groups that have SQL Server instances for which you want to enable auto-protection.

Backups created by using the Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) hardware provider on the host are inconsistent.

Download and install the appropriate localized hotfix described in article 975688 (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=189204).

Uninstalling DPM with the Remove data option might cause Setup to stop working.

Uninstall DPM with the Retain disk-based recovery points option, and then delete the DPM database (DPMDB) and any volumes created by DPM.
