Explanation

This Error event may be triggered by multiple causes. Similarly, the method by which you resolve this error varies greatly depending on what triggered this event in your particular Exchange environment. This Error event may be accompanied by MSExchangeSA error event 2035, or MSExchangeAL error events 8325, 8326 and 8231. This error is most often due to the absence of the address type object from the Configuration\Services\Microsoft Exchange\First Organization\Addressing\Address-Types container in Active Directory.

The %1 value will be replaced by the purported search string.

The %2 value will be replaced by the specific object in Active Directory.

The %3 value will be replaced by the specific error code.

User Action

To resolve this error, do one or more of the following:

  • Review the System and Application event logs for related events. For example, events that occur immediately before and after this event may provide more information about the root cause of this error.
  • If the Application event log has MSExchangeSA Error event 2035, uninstall the third-party application referenced in the Error event. Exchange 2010 does not support third-party 32-bit applications and attempting to install them will result in failure because they do not include a 64-bit address generator.
  • Run the tools that Exchange offers to help administrators analyze and troubleshoot their Exchange organization. Open the Toolbox node of the Exchange Management Console to run these tools.
