Process %1 (PID=%2). The site monitor API could not update the msExchServerSite attribute in Active Directory. You must update this attribute to reflect new site name where this Exchange server is installed - Call=%3 Error code=%4.

Explanation

This Error event indicates that the following conditions are true:

  • The site name for the server that is running Microsoft Exchange Server was modified.
  • The Site monitor API could not update the msExchServerSite attribute to reflect the new site name.

The Site monitor API discovers the site name where the Exchange server is installed. It also updates the msExchServerSite attribute of the Exchange server object when the local site name changes.

This event may occur for one or more of the following reasons:

  • The Site monitor API cannot read the Configuration naming context from Active Directory.
  • The Site monitor API cannot acquire the new domain name of the local site from Active Directory.
  • The Site monitor API cannot find the Exchange server object in Active Directory.

User Action

To resolve this error, do one or more of the following:

  • If you have created a new site and moved the Exchange server into it, you must also create a new IP subnet. For more information about how to configure a new Active Directory site for an Exchange server, see Creating an Active Directory Site for Exchange Server.
  • Make sure that the Exchange server is registered correctly on the DNS server. For more information about how to troubleshoot DNS issues, see DNS Troubleshooting.
