How to Change the Administration Database SQL Server Logon and Password

If you change the name of your computer, you must change the required connection string settings in Commerce Server Manager so that the settings use the new computer name. The settings that you change depend on the topology used to deploy Commerce Server. You must manually edit the fields in your Administration database to the new name.

You must also delete your current SQL Server registration and then register a new instance of SQL Server. You must change your SQL Server logon and password for the Administration database. You do this by deleting your current SQL Server registration and then registering a new instance of SQL Server.

To change the Administration database SQL Server logon and password

  1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Commerce Server 2009 R2 , and then click Commerce Server Manager.

  2. In the Commerce Server Manager console, in the left pane, right-click Commerce Server Manager, and then click Properties.

  3. In the Commerce Server Manager Properties dialog box, on the Administration Database tab, click Modify.

  4. In the Data Link Properties dialog box, make the required changes, and then click OK.
