What is the Internal Development/Test Environment?

The internal development/test environment lets you develop and test your Commerce Server 2009 site.

Development Environment

Developers use Microsoft Visual Studio to create and update components and site code in the development environment. Developers work with the following types of content:

  • Commerce Foundation

  • SharePoint Commerce Services

  • Commerce Server pipelines

  • COM+ components and applications

  • BizTalk Server adapters

  • Project Creation Wizard (PCW)

  • Internet Server Application Programming Interface (ISAPI) filters and extensions

  • Dynamic content such as ASP.NET pages and Visual Basic scripts

  • Static content such as HTML pages and graphics

  • Database schemas

  • Data in catalogs, campaigns, user profiles, and site terms

Test Environment

The internal test environment contains a test Web server that runs the test database server and an internal domain controller. The internal environment is useful for developing and testing site updates without disrupting the run-time site and services. You should not use this environment for development.
