Updating POSReady

2/16/2009

It is important to keep your Windows Embedded POSReady 2009 installation up to date. Microsoft offers important security and feature updates online to help protect your computer and to keep it running in optimal condition. There are two primary ways to update POSReady: by using Windows Update or Windows Server Update Services (WSUS).

Note

Do not update the POSReady File-Based Write Filter by using Windows Update.

Using Windows Update

Windows Update is the easiest way to keep your POSReady installation up to date. You can use Windows Update by enabling Automatic Updates in Control Panel or by visiting this https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=129944 to download your desired updates.

Using Windows Server Update Services

WSUS enables administrators to manage and deploy Windows Updates to computers in their network. WSUS is a component that can be installed on Windows Server 2003 SP1 or Windows Server 2008, and it requires your POSReady computer to be a member of the local domain.

If you have a WSUS-enabled server and you want to manage your POSReady computers, see this Microsoft Web site.
