Creating Source and Destination Organizations on the Source Server

The source BizTalk Server is the supplier. An organization can be the source or the destination in a messaging port, distribution list, or channel. An organization can represent an external trading partner, your own company, or a business unit within a trading partner or your company. Each organization has unique identifiers that identify it to BizTalk Server 2000 and to other trading partner organizations.

On the source server, you must create both a source organization and a destination organization. A source organization is a trading partner organization that has been designated in a channel as the source of documents. A destination organization is a trading partner organization designated in a messaging port as the destination for documents.

  3. In the BizTalk Messaging Manager, in the left pane, in the Search for other items area, click Organizations, and then click Search Now to display the list of available organizations.

  4. In the list of available organizations, double-click Home Organization.

  5. In the Organization Properties dialog box, on the Identifiers tab, click Add.

  6. In the New Identifier dialog box, verify the Custom option is selected, and then type MyCompany.

  7. In the Qualifier box, type MyCompany.

  8. In the Value box, type the name of the sender (for example, Sender).

The Value must be the same as the value entered in the Commerce Server App Default Config Properties dialog box, in the BizTalk Source Org Qualifier Value box. If the values are different, the purchase order submission fails and no error message appears.

For information about setting App Default Config properties, see Configuring Commerce Server to Work with BizTalk Server.

  1. Select the Set as default check box to specify the sender (for example, Sender) as the default organization, and then click OK.

You must designate a default organization before you can create a messaging port. The default organization can serve as either the source or the destination for each new messaging port. You can designate a different default organization at any time and then create messaging ports that use the new default organization.

  1. On the Applications tab, click Add, and in the New Application dialog box, type the application name (for example, POApplication for purchase orders and CatalogTransferDoc for catalog transfers), and then click OK.

  2. In the New Application dialog box, click OK.

  3. In the Organization Properties dialog box, click OK.

The source organization and sender on the source BizTalk Server are created. For example, the source organization is "Home Organization" and the sender is "Sender." You have specified the sender as the default organization.

To create a destination organization on the source server

  1. In BizTalk Messaging Manager, on the File menu, point to New, and then click Organization.

  2. In the NewOrganization dialog box, on the General tab, type the name of the destination organization (for example, DestinationOrg).

The name that you type here is the name that is displayed on Commerce Server Business Desk when you associate a vendor with a catalog. The name appears in a list of available vendors from which you can select the vendor you want.

  1. In the Comments box, type any necessary comments about the destination organization.

  2. On the Identifiers tab, click Add.

  3. In the New Identifier dialog box, verify the Custom option is selected, and then type MyCompany.

  4. In the Qualifier box, type MyCompany.

  5. In the Value box, type the name of the receiver (for example, Receiver), and then click OK.

  6. In the New Organization dialog box, click OK.

The destination organization and receiver on the source BizTalk Server are created. For example, "Destination" is the destination organization and "Receiver" is the receiver.
