Copy Image Files to Your Site for the Tutorial

Before you perform the tutorial, your system administrator must copy the sample image files in the <drive:>\Program Files\Microsoft Commerce Server 2002\Documentation folder to the <drive:>\Inetpub\wwwroot\Retail\Images\Catalog folder. Copy all files with the .gif file extension.

This enables you to view advertisements after you have created them in the tutorial.

Note

• In a real-life deployment, it is recommended that you secure all image files in your <drive:>\Inetpub\wwwroot\Retail\Images\Catalog folder by granting read-only access to these files. This is done to reduce the risk of users defacing your image files. You can use either IIS or NTFS permissions to secure these files, or a combination of both.
