User Profiles

User profiles contain information about users. You use the Users module to add, delete, and change information about anonymous and registered users who visit your site. For example, you can change the password for registered users who have forgotten theirs. The User Object profile definition is used to collect information about users. You can use the Profile Definition Designer to customize the User Object profile definition to meet the needs of your site.

Commerce Server supports two types of users:

  • Anonymous users. Users who have not signed up for an account on your site. These types of users are only allowed to access non-secured content. If you want to track anonymous users on your site, you can issue them an MSCSProfile ticket.
  • Registered users. Users who have signed up for an account on your site, and who typically have a login name and password. Registered users can provide additional information to benefit from the membership. For example, upon successful authentication, the registered user is issued an MSCSAuth ticket to allow access to secured content.
