Starting and Stopping the Predictor Resource

You can start and stop the Predictor resource using Commerce Server Manager. You can also stop the Predictor resource using the Administrative Tools in Microsoft Windows 2000, but it is preferable to use Commerce Server Manager so that the Predictor resource user interface can update accordingly. When the Predictor resource is started or stopped, the event is recorded in the event log of the local computer.

To pause and resume a model build in the Predictor resource using Commerce Server Manager

To start the Predictor resource using Commerce Server Manager

  • Expand Commerce Server Manager, expand Global Resources, expand Predictor on <server name>, right-click the second Predictor on <server name>, and then click Start.

The Predictor resource is started.

To stop the Predictor resource using Commerce Server Manager

  • Expand Commerce Server Manager, expand Global Resources, expand Predictor on <server name>, right-click the second Predictor on <server name>, and then click Stop.

  - You can stop the Predictor resource only if it is running.

The Predictor resource is stopped and an event is recorded in the event log of the local computer.

To stop a model build in the Predictor resource using Commerce Server Manager

  • While the analysis model is building, right-click the model name, and then click Stop.

  - You can stop a model build only if the model status is **Running**.

An error dialog box appears indicating that the build failed and that the operation ended abnormally. The Predictor resource is stopped and an event is recorded in the event log of the local computer. The status of the build returns to Idle.

To pause and resume a model build in the Predictor resource using Commerce Server Manager

  1. While the analysis model is building, right-click the model name, and then click Pause.

    The status of the build changes to Paused.

  2. To resume building the model, right-click the model name, and then click Resume.

    The status of the build changes to Running.
