Disjoint Discounts

Disjoint discounts are discounts that apply if the Get and Buy clauses refer to the same product. This property determines whether to reuse the condition item as an award for the discount. The two disjoint discounts are:

  • Apply offer on Get product alone. The buy condition cannot be reused as an award. Used by business managers to moderately promote a product.
  • Apply offer on both Get and Buy products. The buy condition can be reused as an award. Used by business managers to aggressively promote a product.

The following discount will yield different results depending on the disjoint discount you select. The basket results are displayed for each disjoint discount:

Condition: Buy two Unisex shirts.

Award: Get one Unisex shirt at 40 percent off.

Disjoint Discount: Apply offer on Get product alone.

The following basket shows a 40 percent discount off the third unisex shirt in the basket. Because the Apply offer on Get product alone disjoint discount property was selected, the condition item could not be reused as the award. The first and second shirts were used as the condition, and the 40 percent discount is awarded to the third unisex shirt. There are no conditions or awards on the fourth shirt.

The third and fourth shirts in the basket were used as a condition, and the fourth shirt was awarded the 40 percent discount.
