Installing Commerce Server Using the Business Analytics Option

After you have completed the Data Warehouse configuration, any additional changes to the configuration must be made manually using Commerce Server Manager or Commerce Server Site Packager.

To install Commerce Server using the Business Analytics option

  • Do not use "localhost" as the computer name in the URL or when you are prompted for the SQL Server name.
  • Internet Information Services (IIS) 5.0 must be installed on your local computer if you want to install the Business Analytics feature on a remote computer.
  1. Insert the Commerce Server 2002 CD into the appropriate drive. The Commerce Server 2002 Setup program starts.

    If the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) pre-installed Commerce Server on your computer, navigate to the Microsoft Commerce Server 2002 folder on your computer, and double-click Setup.exe. The Commerce Server 2002 Setup program starts.

  2. Click the Commerce Server Installation link, and then follow the online prompts.

  3. In the Customer Information screen, type the 25-character Product key, and then click Next.

  4. In the Destination Folder screen, accept the default installation folder, or click Change to specify a different folder, and then click Next.

  5. In the Setup Type screen, select Business Analytics, and then click Next.

  6. In the Administration Database Configuration screen, do the following:

    Use this To do this
    SQL Server Computer Type the name of the computer running SQL Server for your Administration database. If SQL Server was installed locally, the local computer name is displayed.
    Use Windows Integrated Security Check this option if you want to use Windows integrated security when connecting to the Administration database.

    When you use Windows integrated security, user names and passwords are not stored in the SQL Server connection string, and are not affected by SQL Server password resets. For information about Commerce Server security, see Securing Your Site.

    Use a Specific User Name and Password Check this option if you want to use SQL Server authentication when connecting to the Administration database.
    SQL Server Login Name Type the user account for the Administration database.

    • For security purposes, do not use the sa login for access to the Administration database. To change the login information for the Administration database after it is created, use SQL Server Enterprise Manager.
    SQL Server Login Password Type the login password for the Administration database.

    • If you are creating the Administration database, in the SQL Server Login Name and SQL Server LoginPassword boxes type a SQL Server login that has permissions on the master database to create a new database. To view the permissions for the SQL Server login for the master database, use Enterprise Manager.
    • If the Administration database already exists, in the SQL Server Login Name and SQL Server LoginPassword boxes type a SQL Server login that has full permissions on the existing Administration database.
  7. Click Next.

  8. In the Services Accounts screen, type the Username, Password, and Domain of the Windows account under which the Commerce Server services will run on this computer, and then click Next.

    Commerce Server Setup automatically grants the logon as a service right to the account(s) you specify. Commerce Server 2002 Direct Mailer, the List Manager service, Predictor resource, and Event Logging require an account for security and network access.

    • Use a permanent account to run the Commerce Server services. If this account is disabled at a later date, or if the password is changed, Commerce Server will stop working. For instructions about changing a service account or password, see Changing a Service Account or Password.
  9. Click Install to begin the installation process.

When the installation process is complete, the Data Warehouse Configurator dialog box appears. Use the following procedures to configure the distributed installation of the Data Warehouse.
