Accessibility

Commerce Server Business Desk Framework and modules have followed certain guidelines to help assure that Business Desk will be accessible to users with disabilities. To maintain consistency with the Framework and existing modules, new modules must follow the accessibility guidelines for Web applications. For more information about accessibility guidelines, see https://msdn.microsoft.com.

Some examples of these guidelines are:

  • The Business Desk must function properly with graphics turned off in the browser.

  • The Business Desk must continue to function properly when custom fonts and font sizes are configured in Internet Explorer.

The following additional design considerations should also be observed:

  • Color should never be the only visual clue.

  • Subtle use of color should be avoided. High contrast is more accessible.

  • Provide keyboard options, including those such as the tab key for navigating to different fields on a page. All visual elements on the page should be included in the tab order.

  • Avoid horizontal scrolling wherever possible.

  • Accommodate screen readers wherever possible. This means that tables and graphics should have associated text that explains their purpose and provides some level of detail about their contents.
