International Shipping

Commerce Server 2002 provides enhanced support for delivering shipping information that is appropriate to a particular locale. The following fictional business scenario provides some context for understanding how this support can be implemented. The scenario is an extension of the scenario described in Business Scenarios for Enabling International Transactions.

Business Scenario for Enabling International Shipping

In this fictional scenario, the Contoso retail site displays locale-specific shipping information. The Contoso shipping managers created shipping methods that are appropriate for five locales (English, Spanish, French, German, and Japanese). For example, the content is named using a convention that identifies the locale with which it would be associated. A shipping method for air freight that is displayed for a French user on your site might be named Air_FR.

Contoso uses the language_id field in the ShippingConfig database table to track the shipping methods that are displayed on the shipping page.
