Unpacking a Site on a Local Web Server

You can unpack a site on a local Web server and install all of your database files on one SQL Server, or you can add the Web server to an existing application, and specify that more than one database server will be used with the site. This section contains procedures on how to unpack a site quickly, accepting most default settings, and then how to unpack a site, specifying all your settings.

Use Quick unpack when:

  • Commerce Server and IIS are installed on the same computer.
  • You want to put all of your database files on one SQL server.
  • You want to unpack an entire site.

Use Custom Unpack when:

  • Commerce Server and IIS are installed on different computers.
  • You want to add only resources in the package to an existing site.
  • You want to add only a single application in the package to an existing site.
  • You want to add a Web server to an existing application in an existing site.
  • You want to put your database files on multiple SQL servers.
