Editing a Single Generic Profile

You use the Profile Editor module to edit existing generic profiles.

You must have access to the Profiles modules to make changes to site terms, profile definitions, and profiles. For information about Business Desk permissions, see About Business Desk Security.

  • To edit a property that is defined as a join key that has been used to collect data, you must first delete the database column that the property is mapped to. After you delete the database columns, you must migrate the old data into the new database columns. Commerce Server 2002 does not support modifying the join key property when you have persisted data.

To edit a generic profile

  1. In Profiles, click Profile Editor.

  2. In the Profiles screen, select the profile definition of the generic profile you want to edit, and then click Open on the toolbar.

  3. In the <profile definition> screen, select the generic profile you want to edit, and then click**Open** on the toolbar.

    • To display a particular generic profile, you use the Find pane at the top of the <profile definition> screen. For information about finding a generic profile, see Finding a Generic Profile.
  4. In the Update Profile: <generic profile> screen, edit the generic profile.

  5. To save the generic profile and return to the Profiles screen, click Save and go back on the toolbar.

The edited generic profile is saved.
