Error invoking Import API… appears when unpacking a site

When you are unpacking a site, you receive the following error:

Error invoking Import API on Commerce.CatalogPUP for Product Catalog 80040E14:Source:Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL ServerDescription:The Full-Text Service (Microsoft Search) is not available. The system administrator must start this service.

This error occurs if the Microsoft Search service is not running when Commerce Server Site Packager runs the script to create catalogs.

Solution

Start the Microsoft Search service. Then either delete the site and unpack it again, or delete and unpack the Catalog resource.

To start the Microsoft Search service

  1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Services.
  2. In the Services dialog box, select Microsoft Search.
  3. Right-click Microsoft Search, and then click Start.
