Creating a User

You use the Users module to manage registered users — those Web site users who are recognized by your site because they have completed an online registration form, or in some way have established a user account on your site.

In this lab, you will be adding three new users for the World Wide Importers Company: an administrator, a delegated administrator, and a non-administrator user.

To create an administrator

  1. In Users, click Users.

  2. In the Users screen, click Add on the toolbar.

  3. In the New User screen, in the General information section, do the following:

    Use this To do this
    Logon name Type JoeUser.
    User password Type open_sesame.
    E-mail Type JoeUser@WWImporters.com.
    Last name Type User.
    First name Type Joe.
  4. In the Account Info section, do the following:

    Use this To do this
    Organization ID Click the ellipse button [] to open the Select Organization dialog box.
  5. In the Select Organization dialog box do the following:

    Use this To do this
    Name (Find) Type World Wide Importers, and then click Find Now.

    World Wide Importers appears in the Name box.

    Name (List) Select World Wide Importers.
  6. Click OK.

  7. In the Account Info section, in the Account status box, select Active Account from the drop-down list.

  8. In the Business Desk section, in the Partner service role flags box, select Administrator from the drop-down list.

  9. To save the new user and return to the Users screen, click Save and go back on the toolbar.

The new user is saved in the World Wide Importers organization.

To create a delegated administrator

  1. To open the SupplierAD site, in Internet Explorer type http://<computername>/SupplierAD on the Address line.

  2. On the SupplierAD site Sign-in screen, do the following:

    Use this To do this
    User name Type JoeUser.
    Password Type open_sesame.
  3. Click Submit.

    Partner Service appears in the left pane.

  4. In the left pane, under Partner Service, click Users, and then above the user information, click New.

  5. In the Account Info section, from the Account status drop-down list, select Active.

  6. In the Business Desk section, from the Partner service role flags drop-down list, select Delegated Admin.

  7. In the General information section, do the following:

    Use this To do this
    Logon name Type BettyUser.
    Password Type open_sesame.
    E-mail Type BettyUser@WWImporters.com.
    Last name Type User.
    First name Type Betty.
  8. Click Save, and then click Close.

    Betty User is saved as a delegated administrator.

  9. Close the browser window.

To create a non-administrator user

  1. To open the SupplierAD site, in Internet Explorer type http://<computername>/SupplierAD on the Address line.

  2. On the SupplierAD site Sign-in screen, do the following:

    Use this To do this
    User name Type BettyUser.
    Password Type open_sesame.
  3. Click Submit.

  4. In the left pane under Partner Service, click Users, and then click New.

  5. In the AccountInfo section, select Active from the Account Status drop-down list.

  6. In the Business Desk section, from the Partner service role flags drop-down list, select User.

  7. In the General information section, do the following:

    Use this To do this
    Logon name Type BarneyUser.
    Password Type open_sesame.
    Email Type BarneyUser@WWImporters.com.
    Last name Type User.
    First name Type Barney.
  8. Click Save, and then click Close.

    Barney User is saved as a non-administrator user.

  9. Close the browser window.

Site Verification Steps

To verify that BarneyUser is NOT a delegated administrator

  1. To open the SupplierAD site, in Internet Explorer type http://<computername>/SupplierAD on the Address line.

  2. On the SupplierAD site Sign-in screen, do the following:

    Use this To do this
    User name Type BarneyUser.
    Password Type open_sesame.
  3. Click Submit.

    No Partner Services are listed.

  4. Click the Keyboards category.

  - Because there is only one catalog available, the site displays the catalog categories rather than the name of the catalog.
  1. Click Microsoft® Internet Keyboard Pro, scroll down, and then click Add to Basket.

  2. In the Quantity box, type 5, and then click Update.

    The total price includes a quantity of five keyboards on the basket page.

  3. Close the browser window.

To verify that the basket exists in Business Desk

  1. In Orders, click Basket Manager.

  2. In the Basket Manager screen, in the Find screen, from the Find By drop-down list, select All Baskets.

  3. Click Find Now.

The order by Barney User appears on the Find screen.
