This section lists the software requirements for the following:

Commerce Server

SQL Server

Business Desk Client

Commerce Server

Before you install Commerce Server 2000, you must install the following software on your server in the order listed:

  • This is the only platform supported by Microsoft Professional Support Services. Pre-release versions of Windows 2000 are not supported.

  1. Microsoft Windows 2000 Server or Advanced Server.

    If you want to install only the Administration tools or Commerce Server 2000 Help, you can use Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional.

  2. Windows 2000 Server Service Pack 1.

  3. Microsoft Windows 2000 Hotfixes.

    These hotfixes apply to Microsoft Windows 2000 Server, Microsoft Windows Advanced Server, and Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional.

In addition, you must also have an installation of SQL Server 2000 or SQL Server 7.0 available to Commerce Server on the same network. For the SQL Server software requirements, see SQL Server.

  • Commerce Server Direct Mailer must be installed on the same computer as SQL Server.

SQL Server

Commerce Server requires access to either SQL Server 2000 or SQL Server 7.0 on the same network.

SQL Server 2000 Requirements

  • SQL Server 2000 Client Tools

  • SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services

  • SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services Client Tools

SQL Server 2000 includes Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 2.6.

SQL Server 7.0 Requirements

  • Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 Client Tools

  • Microsoft SQL Server 7.0, Service Pack 2

  • Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 OLAP Services

  • Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 OLAP Services, Service Pack 2

  • OLAP Add-in Manager

  • OLAP Server Client Tools

  • Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 2.6

Business Desk Client

Before you install the Commerce Server Business Desk client, you must install the following software:

  • Microsoft Windows 98, Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition, Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000 Professional, Windows 2000 Server, or Windows 2000 Advanced Server

  • Internet Explorer 5.5

  • Microsoft Office Web Components or SQL Server 2000 Client Tools
