Workflow for Profiles

The following figure illustrates the workflow for creating data sources and profile definitions.

1. You create a new data source to expose Commerce Server databases and Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) sources to the Profiles resource.
2. You add a new data object to expose a database table (or an LDAP class) to the Profiles resource.
3. You add new data members to expose columns in a database table (or attributes in an LDAP class) to the Profiles resource.
4. You add a new profile definition that uses the data object to map to the database.
5. You add a new property to the profile definition and assign it a data member.
6. You add a site term to a profile definition.
