System Center 2012 – Data Protection Manager (DPM) uses protection groups to help you organize and manage the data you protect. A protection group is a collection of data sources that share the same protection settings. Data sources within a protection group are referred to as protection group members or simply members. Protection group settings include storage settings, a data synchronization schedule, backup and recovery point settings, and performance options to enable features that include on-the-wire compression and daily consistency checks.
