Setup Instructions for the IBuySpy Delivery 2005 Application

Before you install the IBuySpy Delivery 2005 application, ensure that the following components are installed:

  1. Microsoft .NET Framework
  2. Microsoft SQL Server
  3. Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition (SQL Server Compact Edition)
  4. Internet Information Services (IIS)

Downloading the sample application

  1. Download the IBuySpy Delivery 2005 sample from GotDotNet.com.

  2. Alternatively, locate https://www.gotdotnet.com and search the User Samples section for "IBuySpy Delivery 2005".

  3. Click the download link and save the IBuySpyDelivery2005.zip file to your computer.

Installing the sample application

  1. Open the .zip file, or extract SqlMobile30IBuySpy.msi from the .zip file.

  2. Double-click SqlMobile30IBuySpy.msi to start installation.

  3. In the Installation Wizard, specify a path for installation, or accept the default. The Installation Wizard copies all necessary files to the installation path and creates a program menu. To access the menu, click Start, click Programs, click Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition, and then click IBuySpy Delivery 2005 Toolkit configuration.

  4. The Installation Steps window is displayed. See 'Configuring the sample application and server.

Configuring the sample application and server

  1. In the Installation Steps window, read the instructions, and then click Proceed to Configuration.

  2. In the Configure the Sample window, select the server that you will configure for the sample application. Both SQL Server and IIS are configured on the selected computer. After you make your selection, click Configure.

    Several scripts run to configure SQL Server and IIS. This process can take several minutes.

  3. When the configuration is complete, the Configure the Sample page displays Status: Configuration succeeded. Click Finish.

  4. In the Installation Complete window, confirm installation and configuration by clicking the provided link. Internet Explorer will open the IBuySpy Web portal. From the Installation Complete window, you can also open the Visual Studio 2005 code solutions for the handheld applications.

Troubleshooting tips

  1. Use SQL Server Management Studio to check whether SQL Server agent is running.

  2. To allow Internet users to access the Web server on your network, for IIS 5.1 perform these steps. Open Control Panel, open Windows Firewall, click Advanced, click Settings under Network Connection Settings. Under Services, Web Server (HTTP) option.

  3. If you are unable to browse to the IBuySpy website, ensure that ASP.NET is registered with IIS. To do this, navigate to Windows\Microsoft.Net\Framework*\<version directory>* and execute <aspnet_regiis.exe -i-enable> on the command line.
