How to: Create a Cube Perspective

You can create perspectives of a cube by using the Perspectives tab in Cube Designer, which you can access from Business Intelligence Development Studio.

To create a cube perspective

  1. In Business Intelligence Development Studio, open the project that contains the cube for which you want to create a perspective.

  2. In Solution Explorer, expand the Cubes folder, and then double-click the cube to open Cube Designer.

  3. In Cube Designer, click the Perspectives tab.

  4. On the toolbar of the Perspectives tab, click New Perspective to add a new Perspective Name column to the view.

  5. In the first row of the Perspective Name column, select the default perspective name and enter a new name for the perspective. We recommend that you use perspective names that reflect the purpose of each perspective.

  6. In the Perspective Name column of the new perspective, deselect Measure Groups and Dimensions for the perspective as desired. By default, all measure groups and dimensions are selected.

  7. To process and deploy the new perspective, click the Process toolbar icon and then follow the prompts.

  8. To view the new perspective, click the Browser tab, select the perspective from the Perspective list, and then drag and drop Dimensions and Measures onto the browser pane.
