Disabling Unneeded Services

To increase the security of a computer that is running Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services (SSAS), disable all nonessential services on the computer. In particular, the following protocols are not secure and should be disabled if they are not needed:

  • Telnet
  • FTP
  • SMTP
  • NNTP
