How to: Change Storage Settings of a Partition

You set storage options and design aggregations for partitions by using the Storage Settings dialog box, available in the Partitions tab of Cube Designer in Business Intelligence Development Studio. You can also set storage settings in SQL Server Management Studio.

To set storage options in Business Intelligence Development Studio

  1. Open the cube that contains the partition for which you want to configure storage, and then click the Partitions tab.

  2. Expand the measure group that contains the partition to configure.

  3. Click the Storage Settings link under the partition name. The Partition Storage Settings dialog box opens.

  4. Select the Standard setting check box to accept the default storage settings for the storage type specified by the slider bar. Drag the slider bar to change the storage type.

  5. Select the Custom setting check box, and then click Options to set advanced storage options. For more information about how to set storage options, see Storage Settings Dialog Box (SSAS).

To set storage options in SQL Server Management Studio

  1. In Object Explorer, open the cube that contains the partition for which you want to set storage options.

  2. Right-click the partition, and then click Properties.

  3. In the Partition Properties - <partition name> - dialog box, select the Proactive Caching page.

  4. Select the Standard setting check box to accept the default storage settings for the storage type specified by the slider bar. Drag the slider bar to change the storage type.

  5. Select the Custom setting check box, and then click Options to set advanced storage options. For more information about how to set storage options, see Storage Settings Dialog Box (SSAS).
