Object Explorer, a component of Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, connects to instances of the SQL Server Database Engine, Analysis Services, Integration Services, Reporting Services, and SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition. Object Explorer provides a view of all objects in the services and presents a user interface to manage them. The capabilities of Object Explorer vary slightly depending on the type of service, but generally include the development features for databases, and management features for all server types.
