Namespace: Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Nmo
Assembly: Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo (in microsoft.sqlserver.smo.dll)

Syntax

'Declaration
Public Property Parent As InstanceDatabaseFileGroup
public InstanceDatabaseFileGroup Parent { get; set; }
public:
property InstanceDatabaseFileGroup^ Parent {
    InstanceDatabaseFileGroup^ get ();
    void set (InstanceDatabaseFileGroup^ value);
}
/** @property */
public InstanceDatabaseFileGroup get_Parent ()

/** @property */
public void set_Parent (InstanceDatabaseFileGroup value)
public function get Parent () : InstanceDatabaseFileGroup

public function set Parent (value : InstanceDatabaseFileGroup)

Property Value

The InstanceDatabaseFileGroup object that contains the instance database data file.

Remarks

Updated text:5 December 2005

Updated sample code:5 December 2005

Each InstanceDatabaseFile has a parent InstanceDatabaseFileGroup. You typically supply the parent object when you create the InstanceDatabaseFile using the InstanceDatabaseFile(InstanceDatabaseFileGroup,String) constructor.

If you set the parent in the constructor, do not set the parent using this property. Setting the parent twice throws an exception.

Example

The following examples show how to set the Parent property when using the default constructor:

// Create data file and set properties.
InstanceDatabaseFile idb_file1 = new InstanceDatabaseFile();

// Required properties.
idb_file1.Name = "MyInst_PrimaryFile1";
idb_file1.Parent = idb_fg;
idb_file1.FileName = @"C:\NS\Default\MyInst_PrimaryFile1.mdf";

// Optional properties.
idb_file1.InitialSize = "5MB";
idb_file1.MaxSize = "15MB";
idb_file1.GrowthIncrement = "10%";

// Add the database file.
idb_fg.InstanceDatabaseFiles.Add(idb_file1);
' Create data file and set properties.
Dim idb_file1 As InstanceDatabaseFile = _
    New InstanceDatabaseFile()

' Required properties.
idb_file1.Name = "MyInst_PrimaryFile1"
idb_file1.Parent = idb_fg
idb_file1.FileName = "C:\NS\Default\MyInst_PrimaryFile1.mdf"

' Optional properties.
idb_file1.InitialSize = "5MB"
idb_file1.MaxSize = "15MB"
idb_file1.GrowthIncrement = "10%"

' Add the database file.
idb_fg.InstanceDatabaseFiles.Add(idb_file1)
