NotificationClassProtocol.FailuresBeforeAbort Property

Gets or sets the number of consecutive notification delivery failures that can occur when attempting to deliver notifications within a distributor work item before the attempt is aborted and an error is reported to the event log.

Namespace: Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Nmo
Assembly: Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo (in microsoft.sqlserver.smo.dll)

Syntax

'Declaration
Public Property FailuresBeforeAbort As Integer
public int FailuresBeforeAbort { get; set; }
public:
property int FailuresBeforeAbort {
    int get ();
    void set (int value);
}
/** @property */
public int get_FailuresBeforeAbort ()

/** @property */
public void set_FailuresBeforeAbort (int value)
public function get FailuresBeforeAbort () : int

public function set FailuresBeforeAbort (value : int)

Property Value

An Int32 value that specifies the number of failures before canceling additional delivery attempts.

Remarks

This property is optional and has a default value of 20.

The distributor stops attempting to deliver notifications within the work item after the configured failure limit. If there is a retry schedule, the distributor picks up the work item at the next retry interval and retry both the failed notifications and those that were never attempted.

Example

The following examples show how to define execution settings for a delivery protocol:

smtpProtocol.FailuresBeforeEventLog = 2;
smtpProtocol.FailureEventLogInterval = new TimeSpan(0, 10, 0);
smtpProtocol.FailuresBeforeAbort = 10;
smtpProtocol.MulticastRecipientLimit = 50;
smtpProtocol.WorkItemTimeout = new TimeSpan(0, 20, 0);
smtpProtocol.FailuresBeforeEventLog = 2
smtpProtocol.FailureEventLogInterval = New TimeSpan(0, 10, 0)
smtpProtocol.FailuresBeforeAbort = 10
smtpProtocol.MulticastRecipientLimit = 50
smtpProtocol.WorkItemTimeout = New TimeSpan(0, 20, 0)
