How to Export Profile Schema

For the latest version of Commerce Server 2007 Help, see the Microsoft Web site.

Exporting profile schema lets you export the following from the Profiles Schema Manager to an XML file:

  • Data sources

  • Data source partitions (without user names and passwords)

  • Profile definitions

  • Site terms

Data source partition connection string user names and passwords are not exported.

To export profile schema

  1. Expand Commerce Server Manager, expand Global Resources, expand Profiles (<computer name_database name>), right-click Profile Catalog, and then click Export Profile Schema.

  2. In the Select a File dialog box, type the file name for the profile schema you want to export, and then click Save to save the new XML file.

  3. In the Profile Schema Export Succeeded dialog box, click OK.

The XML file is saved with the specified file name. The Profiles Schema Manager removes user names and passwords from the connection strings of the exported data source partitions. You must re-create the connection strings for each data source partition if you import the profile schema. You can open the XML file that contains the exported profile schema in an editor, such as Notepad, view it in a Web browser, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer, or import it into a Commerce Server Profiles resource.
