To add or remove a SCSI adapter

  2. In the navigation pane, point to Configure, and then click the appropriate virtual machine.
  3. Under Configuration, click SCSI adapters, do one of the following, and then click OK:
    • To remove a SCSI adapter, click Remove.
    • To use the SCSI adapter with the shared quorum disk in a cluster, click Share SCSI bus for clustering.
    • To add a SCSI adapter, click Add SCSI adapter, and then in SCSI adapter ID, select a value.

Note

To perform this procedure, you must have the appropriate permissions. If you do not have the appropriate permissions, you will either receive an error message or you will not be able to view certain menu items and options described in this procedure. To change your permissions, contact your Virtual Server administrator. For more information, see Securing Virtual Server. For instructions on opening the Administration Website, see "Open the Administration Website" in Related Topics. If you add a SCSI adapter to a virtual machine after Virtual Machine Additions is installed, you must install the Accelerated SCSI Controller driver in the guest operating system. For instructions, see "Install the SCSI driver after installing Virtual Machine Additions" in Related Topics. You can configure as many as four SCSI adapters on a virtual machine. Each SCSI adapter supports up to seven virtual hard disks of up to 2 terabytes each. However, each SCSI adapter can support only one virtual hard disk that has been shared for clustering purposes. When you add a SCSI adapter, the default SCSI adapter ID is 7. Each SCSI adapter can have the same ID number because each adapter is on a separate SCSI bus.
