Aspects

The following is a list of all aspects that are part of this managed entity:

Name Description

Custom Application Configuration

Independent software vendors can write custom applications to extend the functionality of the RemoteApp and Desktop Connection Management service. For the custom application to work correctly with the RemoteApp and Desktop Connection Management service, it must properly register as a COM object.

Personal Virtual Desktop Availability

Personal virtual desktop assignments are stored in Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS). AD DS must be available for the RemoteApp and Desktop Connection Management service to display a user's personal virtual desktop by using RemoteApp and Desktop Connection or RD Web Access.

Personal Virtual Desktop Configuration

The RemoteApp and Desktop Connection Management service queries Active Directory Domain Services to retrieve the personal virtual desktop that is assigned to the user. The RD Connection Broker server must have Read access to the organizational unit in which the user account resides.

Port Configuration

By default, the RemoteApp and Desktop Connection Management service uses TCP port 5504 to communicate with the RD Web Access server. The port on which the RemoteApp and Desktop Connection Management service communicates must be available.

RD Connection Broker Availability

The RD Connection Broker must be available to accept connection requests from user sessions, RD Session Host servers in a farm, and RD Session Host servers running in redirection mode.

Remote Procedure Call Communication

The RemoteApp and Desktop Connection Management service must be able to communicate by using remote procedure call (RPC) to query RD Session Host and RD Virtualization Host servers for RemoteApp program, session-based desktop, and virtual desktop information on your network.

RemoteApp and Desktop Connection Management Communication

RemoteApp and Desktop Connection Management communicates with the RD Session Host servers and RD Virtualization Host servers on your network to retrieve information about the RemoteApp programs, session-based desktops, and virtual desktops available on each server.

RemoteApp and Desktop Connection Management Service Configuration

The RemoteApp and Desktop Connection Management service is installed and configured on the RD Connection Broker server.

TS Web Access Computers Security Group Configuration

The RemoteApp and Desktop Connection Management service uses the TS Web Access Computers security group on the RD Connection Broker server to control access to who can communicate with the service. The TS Web Access Computers group must exist and be populated with the appropriate members.

User Assignment List Configuration

RemoteApp programs can be filtered by user account. When you add a new RemoteApp program by using RemoteApp Manager, you can create a user assignment list so that only certain user accounts can see the RemoteApp program.
